Education

‘You have impacted on our practice, provision and children’s learning outcomes. We couldn’t have done it without you – Ofsted Outstanding School 2017 & 2023.’
Usha Dhorajiwla –  Head Teacher

Danyah works in settings and venues across the country as well as mentoring on a one to one basis. She empowers individuals to find their own unique storytelling voice.

Danyah’s work in schools and libraries is often focused on staff training. This can either be offered as Inset days and CPD’s; mentoring in the classroom; online courses or applied to longer term whole school storytelling / literacy projects.

These longer term projects have the benefit of creating powerful long lasting legacies for staff and pupils alike. When teachers are empowered to tell and share stories themselves this has a profound positive impact on the children in their care including, for example, imagination; language development; literacy skills; concentration; listening; team-work; self confidence and self esteem.

Danyah also offers stories for whole school assemblies or in individual classes.

Please contact us if you’d like Danyah, or one of her storytelling associates, to visit your school.

Danyah is an incredibly positive, friendly and knowledgeable trainer, she understands people and how to get the most from them without them feeling over-whelmed or out of their depth. Her love of all things story related is infectious and one cannot help but feel inspired by her to take that huge leap and have a go for oneself.
Dawn – Teaching Assistant

I’m a professional storyteller, and trained healer, with a particular interest in both spontaneous and biographical stories.

As part of my work, over many years, I’ve worked with The Osho Zen Tarot for myself and others.

I see Tarot as a storytelling art, where I gather before me a spread of cards chosen by you. I use these to interpret the story, a snapshot of your life, which is asking to be told. I see it as a combination of biography woven into a spontaneous story.

The alchemy lies in the centre of the triangle between you, me and the spread of cards you’ve chosen.

The Osho Zen Tarot focuses on gaining an understanding of the here and now. It’s a system based on the wisdom of Zen, that says events in the outer world simply reflect our own thoughts and feelings, even though we ourselves might be unclear what these might be. Your reading can help you to turn your attention away from outside events to find a new clarity of understanding in your being.

If you’re at a crossroads, facing doubt and uncertainty or simply looking for new clarity and understanding, I’d be delighted to offer you a reading to help you make sense of your situation or question. I work with you, using my knowledge and intuition, to examine and interpret the cards for you.

Thank you so much Danyah – from the moment you started the reading I felt in safe hands and your warm, generous spirit shone through the zoom screen and I felt blessed. What joy! Thank you.

“Our children are still talking about the stories Danyah gave to us. Working with her gave us the confidence to take risks in our curriculum. Linking story and the environment to develop creativity in our classrooms and outside led to truly astounding improvements in our children’s writing.”

Head Teacher Ardeley St Lawrence CofE Primary School (ROH/CP Project ’10)

“Danyah’s performance is a tour de force. The show is moving and memorable, a glorious example of storytelling.
I didn’t like it, I loved it!”

Michael Morpurgo

“My wife, two daughter and I went to I Believe in Unicorns… we were blown away. At first we were a bit scared our children wouldn’t be able to focus for an hour as we realised you would be alone on stage. However, the whole experience, the involvement of the audience, the story, the visuals but especially the way you told it and your flawless performance was marvellous.”

Yannick Breuer

“Danyah can play a wide range in her style as a teller. She is dramatic, energetic, creative and original. I have heard her telling stories which made me laugh and cry, sometimes both at once. She is present, flexible and confident in a true, authentic way.”
